Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center provides year-round therapeutic horseback riding exclusively for veterans with special needs and disabilities. Focusing on Veterans in Central Virginia, the goal of this program is to improve the quality of life for the participants through activities that are positive to their cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being.

As of January 1, 2021 we are also welcoming First Responders to come ride with us.

LDEC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Virginia that receives no public funds - federal, state or otherwise - and does not charge the veterans to ride or participate. We are strictly an all-volunteer organization with NO SALARIES that relies exclusively on tax-deductible donations and fundraising to defray our operating costs. All funds, goods, and services received are used to benefit the veterans who participate in our program.

At Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center we provide year-round therapeutic horseback riding for Veterans with special needs and disabilities in Central Virginia. Our mission is to improve their quality of life through activities that are positive to their cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being. We serve Veterans who have served our country from WWII to Iraq and Afghanistan and tall with a variety of disabilities such as amputations, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and traumatic brain injury.

As of January 1, 2021 we are also welcoming First Responders to come ride with us!

We are proud to provide this at NO COST to these brave men and women and their families.  Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center receives no Government funds and depends entirely on private and corporate donations and fundraising efforts.
